Halloween Witch Costume Accessories
Wicked Witch Costume Accessories
The wicked witch is the very (black) heart and soul of Halloween. Nothing is scarier, more classic, or fun than the wicked witch costume. In fact, I myself still shudder at the vision of the “Wicked Witch of the West” from the movie, The Wizard of Oz (left over trauma from childhood).
Now, to put together the perfect costumefor the witch, whether young or old, there are certain necessary accessories needed to enhance your wickedness. These accessories have come to symbolize and characterize the witch, who would be quite lost without them. In other words, you would not consider yourself a true or complete wicked witch, without most or all of these hallmarks of evilness – now would you, dearie?! Hee – hee – hee, cackle – cackle.
First, the evil crone must have a broom. Otherwise, how does one commute to the annual witches sabbath, or get around quickly to pick-up available trick-or-treat goodies? I know this is somewhat sexist, but warlocks need not fly! ![]()
What else is a must have, for these evil crones? Why of course, it’s the tall pointy topped black hat, with the broad rounded brim! With matching black cape and or, long black dress and high top black witch shoes. These accessories certainly make a fashion statement and are sure to scare younger siblings (or older ones too – for that matter).
Next, witch socks are all the rage, especially, if one is allowing for black skirt length ending several inches above the top of the witch shoes. These become even more noticeably important, if the witch should dissolve into a puddle of water on the floor! Young hags particularly, should limit their intake of soda or juice, following the eating of too much candy! You’ve been warned.
Some other nice touches include wearing some greenish face make-up and adding a large nose wart with one or two hairs protruding. There are some really creepy hag masks available, with all the requisite and ugly facial characteristics already included. The witch masks are really effective for the pint sized witch. I don’t think anything creeps-out people more than a knee high witch with the face of an old crone (I shudder to think of it myself)!
For a truly fun Halloween with mountains of candy and treats, you just can’t do better than the old reliable wicked witch costume. And while you are planning your successful Halloween costuming, make sure you consider the important details. Agreed. This is the prettiest witch I have ever seen
The video is helpful. I always struggle with what to do with Halloween makeup. My older sister was always the creative one so she usually did my makeup when I was young.
Hi,
That’s a really helpful and useful video. I know many of my girlfriend’s friends have trouble with make up especially for Halloween. I suppose they are so in the habit of using ‘normal’ everyday make up that they find it hard go push the boundaries and be a bit more daring. Your tutorial makes it that much easier to understand how to get a great look.
Brilliant!
Philip
I love being a witch on Halloween. But this year, I think I’ll dress up like a Drag Queen. How cool would that be?
I love your tutorial too! Pile on the makeup for Halloween. It’s the only time of year to enjoy it so the more the better instead of the less is best mantra.
